Hello everyone – whilst this current Coronavirus Pandemic is quite frightening, it’s also the ideal time to concentrate your creative juices and keep writing. Please try to use this surreal Lockdown time as a positive force on your work.
Stay focused, expand your imagination and hone your own authentic “voice”. Please NO DYSOPIAN VIRUS tales, unless they’re intentionally funny. We reckon that most media companies will be searching for inspirational, uplifting tales either in terms of drama, horror, sci-fi, romance or comedy. However, if you can defy a standard genre, then you could be onto a real winner – if you think of some of your favourite films or TV then most will fit into this rare category, for example; The Lighthouse, Midsommar, Once Upon A Time in Hollywood, Russian Doll, The Favourite, Succession, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Sopranos, Catastrophe, The Office, Orange Is The New Black, Nurse Jackie, Blue Velvet, Rust & Bone, Raw, American Honey, etc.
To keep you motivated, here are some quotes from inspiring screenwriters;
“A saying that I carved deep in my heart – The most personal is the most creative by Martin Scorsese” – Bong Joon Ho
“Write as if you aren’t afraid” and “I always knew that saying the unsayable was going to be a powerful thing.” Phoebe Waller Bridge
“If you want to be a writer, you must do two things, above all others, read a lot and write a lot.” Stephen King
“Writing is a journey into the unknown.” Charlie Kaufman
