Dr Joanne Edge (she/her) is a historian of late medieval and early modern European cultural history, with an emphasis on medicine and the ‘occult’ sciences: divination, magic and astrology; as well as the experience of illness and death. She did her undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at the University of London.
She has worked at the Universities of Cambridge, Manchester and Edinburgh. She is a member of the academic precariat and, at the moment, sits on the National Executive Committee of the University and College Union.
Her first (academic) book, 'Onomantic Divination in Late Medieval Britain: Questioning Life, Predicting Death', was published by York Medieval Press in March 2024.
