Meg founded the Ki Agency in 2011 and has been the champion of Ki’s authors since then. Before Ki, Meg worked at series of agencies – and before that, she spent time working in theatre and bookselling. She not only represents authors but scriptwriters too, and is a font of wisdom when it comes to book-to-screen adaptations.
There were lots, as I was a voracious reader, but Charlotte’s Web might be top of the list, for its sense of justice in the world and how cool spiders are.
Black coffee mainlined throughout the day.
Dawn, and the sense of anticipation for the day.
Many years of being a cat person, but currently under the paw of Fitzsimmons, my partner’s dog. He’s smart and good-natured; loves showing off.
Professionally, I read everything on-screen, but as an ex-bookseller, I’m addicted to the smell and feel of books. If I love a book, I want a print copy, preferably a hardcover. I buy print copies a lot for presents.
Tempting as it is to go back and fix the mistakes of my younger self (“Don’t worry so much!”) I’d love to visit the future – as long as it shows our clients will be successful.
Well, of course, having publishers and producers share my vision for how amazing our clients are. Also that publication and production is exactly what the writer had in mind.
The clown Flip from Little Nemo, who’s always trying to wake him from his dreams. As I move from reading one work after another by our clients, it feels like a dream of what it’s like in their head – a fascinating progress I never want to wake from.
Seeing a client’s name on the finished product. I’m also really nerdy about contracts, which have their own narrative and voice. I have a ghoulish liking for keeping examples of nasty clauses or bad wording as specimens.
Besides clients’ work, Severance, which is fascinating and shocking; finally caught up with Mr Bates vs the Post Office. Looking forward to getting access to the movie portal for the BAFTA voting, which turns me into a film junkie for 4 months of the year.
