A. D. Cooper has won a number of awards for her short films, and has also been involved in interactive TV, and programmes over different platforms. As well as progressing her scripts for TV, film, audio, and theatre, she’s working towards her directorial feature debut with the script ready to go, collaborating on a kids’ sitcom, and a feature documentary amongst many projects.

CENTENARY FILM | BEEKEEPING CHARITY FILM | HURCHEON FILMS

Commission: to develop and create a 10-minute charity documentary. Alice also directed this.

Winner: Silver Charity Award, Best Environmental Film, Best Doc Short, plus festival selections and nominations in UK and USA.

THE WAITING ROOM | 1-ACT PLAY | LOST THEATRE COMPANY/HURCHEON PRODUCTIONS

Winner: one of 18 plays in the One Act Play Festival chosen for the Stockwell Playhouse. A 32-minute fantasy drama with a cast of six, directed and produced by Alice on zero budget.

 

HOME TO THE HANGERS | SHORT FILM | HURCHEON FILMS/DIRECTORS UK /ARRI

Commission to create a film about World War 1 poet Edward Thomas as a co-winner in Directors UK/Alexa Challenge. Alice also directed and co-produced this.

Winner 5 awards including Best British Film, Best Director, plus several other nominations.

A SMALL DOT ON THE WESTERN FRONT | THEATRE | HURCHEON PRODUCTIONS

75-minute one-woman show written, directed and produced by Alice at the fringe Tea House Theatre, London. It was 80% full for all four performances. Zero budget. Now developed this into a feature script.

THE PENNY DROPPED | SHORT FILM | HURCHEON FILMS

Created, directing and producing a 6-minute supernatural film.

Winner: 4 awards including Best Short Short plus many nominations and international film festival screenings.

THE VIEW FROM THE WINDOW | SHORT FILM | HURCHEON FILMS

Winner of the Prequel to Cannes Short Script Competition. Many festival nominations. Alice also directed this.

NINJA WARRIOR | SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT | PINTSIZE PICTURES/CHALLENGE TV

Commission: to craft “as live” comedy narration for 89 x 23 episodes, re-versioning Japanese/ USA sports comedy entertainment show to a UK format.

COMMERCIAL WRITING ACROSS ALL MEDIA | ONGOING

Conceptual copywriting and scriptwriting on corporate films, public information films, TV and radio commercials, audio visual presentations and exhibitions, live scripted events, press, posters, web, digital, and integrated multi-channel campaigns.

COMPETITION JUDGING

2021 Film Expo South Short Script. Also donated Script Editing to the winning script.

OTHER WRITING:

  • Women’s rugby journalist with own column in specialist media (now retired).
  • A contributor of film articles and reviews on the online film makers’ site The Spread.
