Please join us in welcoming Dr Joanne Edge to the Ki Agency roster! Her trade non-fiction book will provide an incisive look at another side of early modern witchcraft. The underlying research based on case books shows the mundane effects of bewitchment, looking at the social tensions and fears that have bled through our perception to the present day.
Dr Joanne Edge (she/her) is a historian of late medieval and early modern European cultural history, with an emphasis on medicine and the ‘occult’ sciences: divination, magic and astrology; as well as the experience of illness and death. She did her undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at the University of London.
She has worked at the Universities of Cambridge, Manchester and Edinburgh. She is a member of the academic precariat and, at the moment, sits on the National Executive Committee of the University and College Union.
Her first book, 'Onomantic Divination in Late Medieval Britain: Questioning Life, Predicting Death', was published by York Medieval Press in March 2024.
