We're thrilled to have Helen and her amazing authors join Ki Agency. Helen's been kicking ass as an agent for the past few years and brings a whole slew of new talent to the agency. She's also a pretty cool human. Do check out her authors too - Nicole Burns, Olivia Jackson, Gareth Shore, Camri Kohler, Bronwyn Hall, Arianna Bent, Jarom Strong, K.C. Harper, A.P. Thayer, Megan Flynn, Meredith Lanzen, Kimberly G. Dawn, Mackenzie Crone and Jennifer Thé (in no particular order).
Glad you added the s to book, or this would have gotten awkward. As a little kid I loved everything from Sweet Valley High to Point Horror to Nancy Drew to the Animals of Farthing Wood. As a teen my angst took me to dark and twisty places, and I probably read far too many books that have had a profound and lasting impact on my psyche. I remember under the cover readings of Anne Rice, Stephen King, Shawn Hutson and James Herbert. My late teens were when I found my love of Action Adventure with Wilbur Smith and Clive Cussler. Oddly enough, I didn’t really get into Fantasy until I was in my late 20s. And I didn’t start reading widely (especially sci fi and romance) until I was about 30. And I’m going to stop counting decades there, I think.
Tea. About fifteen cups a day please.
Night. 10pm-2am I wake up. I could stay up all night, and insomnia does allow me to most of the time. Day time is made for sleepiness and naps.
Both. But since having my second child I’ve developed a cat allergy, so it’s dogs by default. As I am presently at war with my idiot dog over whose cup of water I am drinking (it’s mine but he doesn’t agree), I wish it were cats.
I actually don’t listen to audio books anymore. Might have to start again. But I love both paper and ebook. I tend to buy my favourites in paperback/ hardback, and I have about 4000 books on my shelves at home. And ebooks are for kindle deals and smut. Love me some smut.
Considering most people in Europe seemed to bathe twice a year, I think it would be one of the ancient civilizations that really valued hygiene. Maybe somewhere ancient, wealthy and Egyptian (or as my daughter just pointed out- Egypt). But only if I were fully vaccinated and could take some antibiotics and sun screen (because people as pale as me do not last long in that kind of sun).
I would like to be elastigirl because she gets to eat anything and still look that good. Also, flexibility sounds fun.
Thank you for not asking about book boyfriends because that’s a can of worms best left closed and buried with cement encasing it.
Right, nemesis/nemeses/nemesises... I recently read Diavola and would like to destroy all of Anna’s family as they are living rent free in my mind these days. I’d like to have a serious chat with most of the parents in Clown in a Cornfield. Honestly, can I change it to my author nemesis and call out Robin Hobb for serious emotional trauma and torturing of characters? (I’m joking. If you read this, Robin, you are a goddess, but you did Fitz dirty, and I felt it all).
My authors. They are wonderful and their brains are dark and scary places and if I could I would keep them in jars on my coffee table and sing them soothing songs.
Reading: On kindle I just read Don’t Let The Forest In by C.G. Drews
In hardback I just finished Empire of the Damned by Jay Kristoff
In paperback, I just finished The Vampires of El Norte by Isabel Cañas.
All three were perfect books and have ruined me for the rest of 2025.
Watching: I’m catching up on Season 2 of Interview with a Vampire (real vampire theme in my life at the moment). And Traitors (my family also have the game for this, so we have been playing - although I don’t think that’s what you meant by playing, but I am too cool for non board games- unless it’s a puzzle. Love a puzzle). And I’m watching the Goosebumps series with my youngest.
Having just seen all this in writing, my next book will be a rom com with only happy fluffy thoughts and I will watch Care Bear movies. I am also booking a much needed appointment with my therapist.
